I currently live in Fort Wayne In. but grew up in W.Va. and that is where I began honing the woodsmanship skills taught to my brother Dale and myself , by our dad,Lovell Leslie. My brother is a professional hunter and guide now living in the western U.S. while I would say I am a semi-professional hunter in and that Iam able to add to my yearly income through hunting and call making.

Currently I am a master carpenter for a general contractor in Ft. Wayne and I operate a small business called HOOSIER HUNTER CUSTOM CALLS. At H.H.C.C. I focus on turkey calls primarily and the single piece box call is my passion. I also am currently making custom box turtle slate calls,scratch box calls,custom strikers,and various pot calls.In this master call makers opinion though , nothing reprduces the sound of a hen wild turkey better than a well tuned box call. That is not to say that there are not those out there, that can use a diaghram call equally well,but the custom box calls are the king of the roost!

I currently have four box call designs now ,and am currently working on a new prototype.Those available now are , the PREACHER ,the ELDER, the DEACON and the EXCALIBUR. The PREACHER is modeled after the old appalachian style coffin box with a long handle for those who prefer a handle. The ELDER is a design that allows the hunter to grasp the box while not affecting the tonal quality of the call. It also has a handle, yet not quite as long as the PREACHERS'. The DEACON is my most popular box call,and is designed,like the ELDER, to be held by grasping the box, yet it has no handle whatsoever.The EXCALIBUR is in a class all its own. It is BIG and BOSSY! It is primarily a collectible although it does speak turkey talk quite well. The box is a larger version of the ELDER, and the paddle or striker has a hand carved scottish hilt and button for a handle.

All my box calls are unconditionally guaranteed forever.No matter the problem just return what's left and I'll remake that same call just as the customer first ordered it.Also ,if a customer shows his new or old HOOSIER HUNTER CUSTOM BOX CALL to his friends and aquaintances and I sell three box calls because of that initial customer, I am going to GIVE FREE OF CHARGE to that customer a new WALNUT DEACON box call. This years turkey hunts went very well,and gobblers were harvested in Michigan(2),Indiana(2),West Virginia(1),Kentucky( 3) and Tennessee(1) by myself and those guests I had a privelege to guide on thier first turkey hunts.Glad to report that all the prostaffers also limited out in their respective states and many thanks to them for also guiding others in their pursuit of the ever elusive Eastern wild turkey.

One last thing, always remember to support those resposible for ensuring our hunting traditions such as the National Wild Turkey Federation,the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation,the Pheasants Forever chapters, Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association just to name a few.These orginazations and those like them help in protecting, securing,and maintaining habitat neccasary for wildlife to exist through conservation methods such as hunting and fishing.
